Sheena Murphy, Emerging Leader

Young entrepreneur Sheena Murphy, co-owner of The Bra Lounge in downtown Red Deer, was awarded the title of Emerging Leader of Northern Alberta last week. Sheena is a member of the women in business networking group EWomen Network and will be attending the International Conference and Business Expo in Dallas Texas July 14-18th 2010 for the final awards ceremony.

EWomen Network is an international group of women in business who unite to network, promote and educate. There are Alberta chapters in Red Deer, Calgary, Edmonton and Lethbridge. The conference in Dallas recognizes 5 achievements, including Emerging Leader of the Year, which was won last year by Edmonton member Maria Virtuoso, Humanitarian of the Year, and The Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sheena was shortlisted in April and selected as a finalist in May, due to her business achievements as well as her volunteer endeavours. In 2007, Sheena organized Motherless Daughters of Central Alberta, a group of women and girls who gather to offer support and friendship to others struggling with the loss of their Mothers. Sheena’s family lost their Mom, Loretta Murphy, in a car accident in 1997 when the kids were only 15, 13 and 9.
