What is a POWERShop? I developed the POWERShopping event as a way to connect the Real Woman readership with the really cool independent businesses (and owners) that I met while out distributing magazines to the 12 communities in Central Alberta.
Before my adventures into the nooks and crannies of towns like Rimbey, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe et al, I didn’t know that so many hidden treasures existed! I was one of those who said, “I’m going shopping with a girlfriend” and left for Red Deer, Edmonton or Calgary. However, I was blown away by the stores, the trends and the people!
The POWERShopping Event is just that – a one day opportunity for those hip little joints to place their wares in front of a large audience who wants to shop!
Typically we hold one in the Spring and one in preparation for the winter holiday season (usually mid-November). 40 stores set up shop in the Lacombe Memorial Centre between 7am and 9:30am. Oodles of cool stuff (check out the pictures!) and people fill the ballroom! No admission is charged. There are a schwack of door prizes – including CASH!
Want to Get Involved? Here’s what you need to know. THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL TRADE SHOW. If you have a direct sales business that doesn’t allow you to carry and sell stock from the floor, you can’t take part. (if you have product ready to sell – please feel free to inquire) The whole point is to create an atmosphere for selling – and buying – and leaving with shiny, cool, new stuff in hand.
